Buying Mirumi New or Used: What to Ask the Seller

Before buying a new or used Mirumi, ask for the exact item and condition, its purchase history, the contents included, and the written delivery, return and support terms for your order. Save the answers beside the listing. If something important remains unclear, resolve it before paying.

Use the questions below to assess a specific offer. They do not authenticate a Mirumi or certify a used unit's condition.

Start with the item you would actually receive

Ask: “Is this new and unopened, opened but unused, or used? Are the photos of the unit you will send?” For a used or open-box item, request recent photos of the product, packaging and included contents. Keep those separate from promotional images showing another unit.

Record the seller's business or marketplace name, listing URL, date, stated color and condition. Ask where and when it was originally purchased. If the seller offers purchase evidence, request a redacted copy showing only the relevant retailer, product and purchase date. The original buyer's address, contact details and payment information should remain hidden.

Treat purchase evidence as one part of the record. Ask the relevant support provider which evidence it accepts rather than assuming a receipt or identifier guarantees authentication or coverage.

Why color alone is a poor shortcut

On October 6, 2026, the UK regional buying page still listed Pink, Ivory and Gray. The UK page said, “Any other colour is not a Mirumi.” However, Yukai Engineering's September 29 announcement introduced the official limited color BLACK for a Japan launch on October 1. The announcement also described later overseas rollout plans. UK buying page; Yukai Engineering announcement

That mismatch is a reason to check a color against a dated manufacturer source and the relevant market. It is not evidence about whether an individual seller's unit is genuine, available or eligible for support.

For a used Mirumi, ask about history and present condition

Send a short set of questions:

  • When did you buy it, how often have you used it, and when was it last used?
  • Has it been dropped or exposed to water? Has its body been opened, modified or repaired? If repaired, by whom?
  • Are there any current faults, intermittent behavior or visible marks I should know about?
  • What is included? Please list the cable, manual, box and any other items separately.
  • Can you share a recent, unedited clip of this unit during ordinary use, following its instructions?

Record each answer as a seller statement unless you have separate evidence. A short clip can show the behavior visible in that recording; leave authenticity, long-term reliability and remaining battery life unresolved.

Avoid making an instant response your pass/fail test. The manufacturer's US FAQ advises waiting a few seconds between interactions. Use the manufacturer's FAQ for operation questions and ask support about a persistent problem before buying. Do not ask the seller to force the head, obstruct movement, open the body or perform a stress test for a video.

Ask for a runtime report with context

If the seller says the battery “lasts well,” ask what that means in their recent use: when it was charged, roughly how long it ran, how it was used and whether they observed unexpected shutdowns. Ask for the date of that observation.

If the seller cannot provide a recent report, mark runtime unknown. Do not turn a purchase date or a brief demonstration into a remaining-life estimate.

For a new unopened item, ask about its purchase and storage history without requesting that the seller open it merely to satisfy a used-item checklist.

Separate returns from support after purchase

Ask these as different questions:

  1. “What happens if this order arrives damaged, faulty or different from the description? Who do I contact, by when, and who pays return postage?”
  2. “Can I return it if I change my mind? What condition and packaging are required, and where must I send it?”
  3. “Who provides warranty or repair support for this exact purchase? Does that include a secondhand buyer or an item bought in another country? Please link the applicable terms.”

A concrete example: section 7 of the UK regional store's terms says its direct-purchase warranty covers manufacturing faults for six months from delivery. It also says that warranty applies to the original buyer and is not transferable. Those are the stated terms of that seller's warranty, not a universal rule for every Mirumi purchase. UK terms, checked October 6, 2026

Separately, the manufacturer's US store return policy requires proof of purchase. That return-policy requirement does not establish transferable warranty coverage. Check the terms that apply to your own seller, purchase channel and country. This article does not determine your legal rights. US store return policy, checked October 6, 2026

If a used listing says “still under warranty,” ask the named provider to confirm whether its coverage would apply to you. Until then, keep that promise in the seller-claimed column.

Complete an offer-evidence card before paying

Copy this card for each offer. For every entry, use one of three labels: confirmed by the linked source; seller claimed; unresolved. “Confirmed” should describe only what the source establishes, such as the existence of a policy, not your automatic eligibility under it.

  • Offer: listing URL, date, seller and selling channel
  • Item: stated model/color and new, open-box or used condition
  • Purchase trail: original retailer/date and redacted evidence available
  • Current condition: photos, recent ordinary-use clip, disclosed faults and repair history
  • Contents: each item promised in the package
  • Total and delivery: currency, charges included, dispatch promise, arrival estimate, destination eligibility and any import charges still to clarify
  • Returns: contact route, deadline, required condition, return destination and postage responsibility
  • Support: named provider, applicable policy and written answer about your eligibility
  • Unresolved point: the specific missing answer and who could resolve it
  • Decision: proceed, ask another question or choose a different offer

Worked example: the Japan-store Black listing

This desk-research example uses the Japan official-store Black product page, checked October 6, 2026. No purchase or seller inquiry was made.

  • Confirmed from the opened page: a product titled Black is listed there
  • Confirmed from the manufacturer announcement: BLACK is an official limited-color release, introduced for Japan first
  • Still unresolved for a prospective overseas order: delivery eligibility to the buyer's address, the final checkout total, the applicable return route and support eligibility
  • Next action: ask that store for destination-specific answers before placing an order

This partial card documents the product’s existence while leaving transaction details open. For a secondhand offer, add the current owner’s condition evidence and ask the support provider about resale eligibility.

A short message to send the seller

“Hi, I'm considering this listing. Could you confirm the exact color, whether the item is new/unopened, open-box or used, and everything included? For a used item, please share recent photos, any fault or repair history, and your latest runtime observation with its conditions. If available, please provide redacted purchase evidence without the original buyer's personal or payment details. Please confirm the total in the stated currency, which charges it includes, and the dispatch and arrival estimates for my destination. Please link the return and support terms for this order and, if it is used, confirm whether any stated coverage applies to me as a secondhand buyer.”

Save the reply with the listing and applicable terms. Decide which unresolved questions matter to you before paying; do not fill the gaps with assumptions.
