Start with where you want the interaction to happen. Mirumi’s documented bag-strap attachment points toward an accessory you carry. LivingAI presents EMO as a desktop robot. Then choose the activity you actually want, and verify any software-dependent feature before treating it as a reason to buy. Mirumi attachment guidance · LivingAI EMO
This comparison uses the official US Gray Mirumi listing and LivingAI’s EMO product, app and English command documentation, checked October 6, 2026. It is not a hands-on review, a current bundle comparison or a test of a particular EMO’s installed software.
Movement to observe, or activities to request?
Mirumi’s manufacturer describes responses to sounds and voices, plus head-petting interactions. It says Mirumi has no AI or language recognition and advises allowing time for a response. That makes a spoken conversation the wrong expectation to bring to this comparison. Mirumi FAQ
LivingAI describes EMO moving independently and displaying animated expressions. Its English reference lists movement commands and games such as tic-tac-toe. Think about whether you want to request an activity or mainly watch a response. Documentation of a command is not a measurement of recognition speed or success in your room. Try writing one sentence before comparing features: “The interaction I most want is ___.” If the answer is simply “a cute robot,” make it more specific. A preferred look can start the shortlist, but it will not answer the placement and setup questions below.
Carrying is a more specific question than portability
Mirumi’s FAQ explains placing its arms around a bag strap. EMO’s English command page lists carry mode under update 2.8.0. It would therefore be misleading to describe EMO as impossible to carry. Carry mode also does not establish that EMO attaches to a bag like Mirumi. Mirumi attachment instructions · EMO carry-mode documentation
Separate three questions:
- Where will the robot spend most of its time?
- How will you handle it when moving between places?
- What exact attachment or placement instructions apply to that model?
Ask for a permitted demonstration if a fit or handling question matters to the purchase. A product’s category name cannot settle that question for your bag or desk.
Read the software labels, not just the feature names
LivingAI describes the EMO Pet app as a way to configure EMO, view information and play games. Check the current app listing for your phone before buying; this article does not establish present operating-system compatibility. EMO app information
The English command reference groups these functions by update:
| Documented update | Listed function | Buyer’s next check |
|---|---|---|
| 2.8.0 | Carry mode | Find the current instructions for the installed version |
| 3.0.0 | Object recognition | Verify that the feature you want is available on the unit being demonstrated |
| 3.1.0 | News | Check the language and news-source setting you intend to use |
These are labels in LivingAI’s documentation, not a claim that 3.1.0 is today’s newest firmware or that every unit already has these functions. Version-labeled command reference
The January 29, 2026 release announcement for 3.1.0 says Human World news supports English only, while EMO World news supports multiple languages. It locates the news-source choice in the app’s preferences. Keep that stated language distinction when evaluating the feature; do not turn it into a promise about live availability or answer accuracy. LivingAI release announcement
Use a short setup audit before choosing EMO
LivingAI’s product page lists a camera, a four-microphone array, a head-touch sensor and a speaker. If data handling matters to your decision, inspect the current privacy information and ask about the exact functions you plan to use. The hardware list alone does not answer where information is processed or stored. EMO hardware description
Record the following for any must-have feature:
- Feature and official instruction page
- Robot firmware and app version shown in the demonstration
- Language, connection and account conditions confirmed for that feature
- What was actually demonstrated, and what remains untested
Do not fill a blank with an assumption about offline use, privacy or a future integration. If a feature is essential and its requirements remain unclear, pause that purchase decision.
Choose the routine you would enjoy repeating
Lean toward investigating Mirumi if your main interest is the documented bag-based interaction. Lean toward investigating EMO if your main interest is desktop activities and you are willing to check the relevant app and software conditions.
This is a preference-based shortlist, not a performance ranking. Before ordering, resolve the one open question most likely to change your choice. If it is comfort, command reliability or day-to-day enjoyment, official specifications alone cannot supply your personal verdict.
